More Masters Theses from MES and MIT
Go On-line

April 1, 2009

The Evergreen State College has been graduating students from its three Masters programs since 1983 soon after the MPA program was established. Until 2006, two bound copies were supplied to the Library - one for the circulating collection and one for the College's Archives.

In 2007 a new system was initiated. Due to the fact that the Theses were being generated digitally by their respective writers, a decision was made to reduce the bound versions to one and maintain a digital version as a second master copy. The decision included the intent to make the digital copy available on-line.

The theses can be found on the Library's catalog in general through an author, title, or subject search or through searching the Graduate Program as author, "Evergreen State College Graduate Program in Environmental Studies"..

Some theses prior to 2007 have been scanned and are now available on-line as well. Go to: http://archives.evergreen.edu/masterstheses/home.htm for a list of available theses.

Wiedemann's Journals Digitized

Founding and now emeritus Faculty member Al Wiedemann's Grinnell style natural history journals have been made available to the Archives for digitization. The approximate thirty volumes trace Dr. Wiedemann's observations since 1975. An excellent source for students in Environmental Studies programs.

Update 21 April 2009: Digitization of Journals from 1975-1987 has been completed and is available here:

Women's History Project features
"The Co-Respondents"

The Co-Respondents: Theater in the Service of Late 20th Century Women’s Rights and Women’s Expanding Participation in Modern Society

Patricia Larson and Sandra Nisbet were The Co-Respondents, a theatrical troupe whose themes expressed the call for women’s equal rights, nourished late twentieth century women’s dreams and ambitions, and helped men to accept the changing roles of women which encourage the spontaneity, creativity, and intellectual promise of humanity’s other half. The duo toured their self created historical performances from 1972 – 1987.  A small collection of audio/video recordings survives from their four hundred plus performance repertoire.

Both of these individuals have been members of Evergreen's community in many guises. They have been faculty, adjunct faculty, and the spouses of faculty; guest performers and other roles starting at the dawn of the College's first year of operations.

The project has received $8469.25 in funding to preserve and provide digital access to the valuable historical materials originally created through Washington State and Federal grant dollars

Update 1 April 2009 - Archives is awaiting the transcriptions and indexing of the Co-Respondents' audio and video tapes. Digital copies of these materials will be made available to the Women's History Consortium. See the Washington State HIstorical Society's "Washington Women's History" web pages for access beginning in July 2009.
