Major areas of study include literature, British history and writing.
Class Standing: Juniors or seniors; transfer students welcome.
Students in this program will work together exploring part of a critical age in our cultural heritage, English literature 1780-1830. We will read the poetry of Coleridge, Wordsworth, Keats, Shelley, Byron; novels by Edgeworth, Austen, Scott, M. Shelley; and histories of two contemporary revolutions.
Participants will read critically, learn to adjust reading speeds to different purposes, to organize their thoughts in expository writing, and to learn from from their peers.
Students will be prepared for every seminar, write weekly short papers on poetry, and research and write one longer paper on a historical topic.
Credits: 16 per quarter
