Individual Study: Philosophy and Creative Writing

Faculty Signature Required: Students must develop an Individual Learning or Internship Contract and submit their proposals to Leonard Schwartz prior to the beginning of fall quarter. For more information, contact Leonard at schwartl@evergreen.edu or 360-867-5412 or at the Academic Fair on May 14, 2008. Qualified students will be accepted until the program fills.

Major areas of study include areas of student interest in philosophy, poetry, creative writing and literary theory and criticism.

Class Standing: Juniors or seniors; transfer students welcome.

Individual Study: Philosophy and Creative Writing offers advanced students the opportunity to create their own course of study and research by means of an Individual Learning Contract or Internship. Both individual and group contracts will be considered. Prior to the beginning of fall quarter, students should develop their ideas and bring contract proposals to Leonard Schwartz. Leonard is primarily interested in taking contracts in poetics, readings in poetry and translation, literary theory and criticism, philosophy and experimental prose forms.

Credits: 4, 8, 12 or 16 per quarter

Program is preparatory for careers and future studies in writing and the humanities.
