Summer 2016 quarter

Taught by

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are computer-based systems for management, display, and analysis of geographic data. This is an introductory course designed to provide the student with an overview of the development and basic principles of GIS, practical experience in the use of ArcGIS 10.x (one of the most popular commercial GIS packages), and, finally, an understanding of the development of a GIS project. By the end of the course, students will be able to create GIS maps, explore and analyze the data behind the maps, and apply methods to easily communicate GIS-based information to others.
