We Strive to ProvideRecent activity in the Archives at TESCDigitization of analog materials has been occupying a lot of the work time in Archives recently. Currently we are preparing to digitize student research papers as soon as FERPA permissions have been obtained from the authors. We have also digitized part of the poster collection, multiple audio cassettes recordings of early TESC theater presentations, curriculum and College planning events, etc. The project to arrange and describe the records of the Northwest Indian Applied Research Institute (NIARI) which was disbanded at the end of 2012/13 academic year with the retirement of faculty Alan Parker and the MPA Tribal Program has resulted in finding aids that are available through the Archives website (Accession Register) and the Northwest Digital Archives site: http://nwda.orbiscascade.org/search/advanced.aspx |
Our Newest Work Study AssistantShasta Meehan works with the audio and video materials in the Archives. These also cover a multitude of TESC events, curricular and administrative planning, speeches, convocations, etc.

Northwest Digital Archives NewsNorthwest Digital Archives is looking for some people to test and give feedback on their new Cross Search and Context Utility now known as Archive Engine West - see the prototype here: http://www5.iath.virginia.edu/nwda/prototype/ **Between January 20 and 31, TESC representatives will meet with a NWDA Steering Team member or the NWDA Program Manager for a Q&A session about the project. This will be an opportunity to interact and ask questions, with the expectation that the written or recorded overviews materials sent by NWDA will have been reviewed prior to the meeting. If others at TESC would like to join these conversations, they are welcome. See our collaborative finding aids sent to NWDA at this URL: http://nwda-db.orbiscascade.org/nwda-search/advanced.aspx Pull down the list of member institutions and click on The Evergreen State College for a list of our present finding aids available through NWDA. These aids will also be found on our Library catalog in the near future. NWDA committees are studying how to make the experience on their website more accessible to users and are looking into the new tools for creating finding aids such as EAC-CPF (Encoded Archival Content-Corporate, Personal, Family), and the revisions to EAD (Encoded Archival Description), DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard). The newest finding aid creation tool is known as Archives Space - a tool derived by combining two existing Open Source software programs: the Archivist's Toolkit and Archon. An NWDA committee is keeping close watch on Archives Space to determine if it will be useful to Archivists in the NWDA service area.
