The seminar topics will cover themes by quarter

We will address epistemological questions such as:

What is Science? How is it carried out? Is it really objective? What makes a theory beautiful?

We will consider the question of ethics in scientific research and discuss such topical issues as genetically modified foods, animal welfare, secrecy in research, nano-technology, patenting of scientific discoveries etc. Students will be expected to work together to present seminars on topics of their choosing.

Students will present scientific seminars on topics in the scientific literature that they have researched. This can relate to material that they have prepared for their Spring Quarter extended project.
