Plant Species List

Throughout the quarter, we will be visiting a variety of different ecosystems and identifying some of the plants we encounter there. The following list of species are those plant species that we expect you to be able to identify by the end of fall quarter, without referring to any books.

In addition to the species listed below, you should be able to classify any specimen into the following groups: Fungi, Lichens, Liverworts, Mosses, Ferns, Gymnosperms, Angiosperms, Grasses, Sedges, Rushes, Spruces, Pines, Firs. Your lab notebook should contain labeled gross morphological sketches of at least two specimens from the groups listed above.
