Schools Organizer

Position Description

Our Healthy Schools Campaign seeks a creative, organized intern to expand our statewide work to reduce pesticide use in schools and other programs.  Washington state currently has a number of schools that have passed policies eliminating the use of the most hazardous pesticides, use pesticides only as a last resort, and ensure that pesticide use is tracked and the public notified of pesticide applications in advance.  Eastern Washington is lacking in schools with such programs.  The  schools organizer would work to develop relationships with schools, parent activists, and other organizations in eastern Washington.  This is a non-paid position.  Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Farm to College Organizer

Position Description

The Farm to College project was launched by Spokane Tilth and Washington State Department of Agriculture Small Farms and Direct Marketing division to connect college food services with local farmers to bring fresh, locally-grown produce onto campus.  Washington Toxics Coalition seeks an intern who will expand our statewide work to reduce pesticides with the promotion of alternatives such as locally grown organic food in eastern Washington’s six colleges and universities.  The Farm to College organizer would build relationships with students, faculty, groups, and individuals at eastern Washington’s colleges to explore possibilities of developing farm to college projects.  This is a non-paid position.  Strong written and oral communication skills required.  Intern must have the ability to work independently.  Must reside in eastern Washington for duration of internship.
