Master of Science, University of Washington, 1982
    Specialized in Bioinorganic Chemistry, a hybrid of inorganic and organic chemistry with biochemical applications.  My research focused on the impacts of metals in human physiology for both toxic and therapetic effects, including studies in psychotherapy, oncology, and tuberculosis.

Bachelor of Science, Brigham Young University, 1979
    High Honors Graduate with University Scholar Designation
    Undergraduate Thesis:  Improved Synthetic Methods of 2,5-Norbornadione
          Thesis demostrated the use of a Raney Nickel Catalyst to produce this compound from the diforamate

Teaching Experience:
The Evergreen State College,  Adjunct Faculty, 1997 to present
    Designed and instructed "Chemistry for the Consumer" (1997 - 98) and "Chemistry in Everyday Life" (1999 to present), courses to provide instruction in the basics of chemistry intended for students with non-science backgrounds.  The courses include discussion of applications to chemistry in issues facing modern society including environmental studies, nutrition, and phamaceticals.

University of Washington, Instructor,  1982 - 84
    Instructed General Chemistry for pre-medical and pre-engineering students.  Supervised up to five teaching assistants.  Received Special Faculty Commendation for Superior Teaching from chemistry department faculty both years.

LDS Institute of Religion, Seattle, WA 1982 - 83
    Adjunct teaching, with emphasis in Old Testament studies

    Worked as laboratory assistant in Organic Chemistry (1979 - 80), assisted in the instruction of General Chemistry (1981 - 82),

    Worked as laboratory assistant in Analytical Laboratories (1977 - 78), Prepared solutions for general and analytical laboratories (1979) also instructed pre-Nursing laboratory (1979)

Washington State Department of Ecology,  Environmental Planner,  1987 - 2004
    Designed and implemented programs related to non-industrial pollutions.  Was lead in organizing the state's program for household and small business hazardous waste, including the recycling of used motor oil.  Co-authored the state plan for non-industrial water pollution.  Implemented programs related to agriculture and federal agency activities.

Virginia Mason Research Institute, Seattle, WA,  Research Fellow, 1980 - 81
    Designed and synthesized novel chemotherapeutic agents with reduced toxicological effects based on the drug cis-platin
