Placebo
By Dylan Ksa

Another phony.
Any real women out there?
Women with guts
in the right places
instead of their heads?
I intend to complain
to the God of All Reason
when I meet him
for placing me in the placebo group
of this
miserable
experiment.

I hope he likes the same
brands of liquor I do
Maybe he’ll think kindly
on me
and my people.
Maybe he’ll see
matters of life and death
ought not be distilled
into measures
of placebic grace
when they’re all we little people
have
to keep us
intent
on straddling the wire.
