The first large image shows the bulk of the sewing. Be attentive to the direction of each chain link.

Notice that te kettle stitch here is reversed in its initial direction.

The last signature and the top cover are sewn on simultaneously!

So, when you come out of the second-to-last signature, you have to assemble the last signature and the cover with this crazy stitch. The purpose of it all is to create a strong connection and maintain the running pattern as closely as possible.

After the first connection to the topc cover, the stitch is a little different (see third image, below).
