AUTOBIOGRAPHY PROJECT

 

During the retreat, all of us will be presenting an autobiographical project about the ways particular people, places, and events have influenced who we are at this time.  The only restriction on this project is that it cannot be a written essay.  The project CAN BE poetry, song, dance, collage, paintings, drawings, sculpture, dioramas, photography, multi-media, etc. 

 

To help yourself prepare for the project, read pages 72- 76 in Learning Outside the Lines and follow as much of that advice as you can.  That is, take time to talk with people about what they remember as important in your life.  Find photographs, art work, stories and poems you wrote or liked as a child, teenager, or adult, letters you received, journals you kept.  Think about your challenges and your victories - identify places, people, and events that were important.

 

Even though your project for the program will not be a written essay or journal, you might want to spend some time writing about the kinds of experiences and memories described on pages 72-76.  When you come to the retreat, bring.your autobiographical project to present to the class.
