Guidelines for Writing Final Evaluation

Final self-evaluations are to be in the form of a single paragraph (since this is only a 2-credit program), and preferably written in the third person – we will then edit them as necessary and they will become your final transcript evaluations. They are to be submitted electronically as a word document or pasted into the text by email to the appropriate instructor by Friday, May 27. In a separate set of paragraphs, please answer the 2 nd set of questions below related to class content. Thanks!

In addition, bring all of your activity summaries you have gotten back (fastened together), along with the last one, to class in week 9 – or stick them in our boxes by the end of the week.

When writing your final evaluation, please consider:

  1. Talk about your goals, and how this class helped you formulate, revise or prioritize your personal efforts, including how this class may affect your future studies, or career
  2. Comment on your learning and engagement with several particular speakers, with your reading and with particular new practices you explored outside of class
  3. Attendance and level of participation

This is a very rough example of what your eval might be like:

Cindy Beck’s primary goal for this class was to focus on ways to balance health, school and family obligations while working on personal fitness goals. She found Joe Pizzorno’s talk particularly helpful in developing clear plans for useful lifestyle changes, and she has devised a weekly schedule that accommodates both her school obligations and a rigorous workout routine designed for her to complete a half marathon this coming spring. Reading the book, Power of Intention by Dyer, helped her understand the concepts of being receptive to what others have to offer, and to be gracious in spite of personal desires. She attended all/some/most class sessions, and participated fully/enthusiastically/attentively/reluctantly in class activities. Activities she explored outside of class included acupuncture, Palates, and researching environmentally friendly cleaning agents.

ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS to answer, just FOR US and the future:

  1. What speakers were most meaningful to you, and why? Which did you find the least interesting and/or useful?
  2. What other practices and/or speakers would you have liked to see included, or included in more detail?
  3. Write a paragraph synopsis and evaluation of the book you chose to read.
  4. What interferes most with your carrying out practices you know are important for your health, and did you manage to make any changes to incorporate these more into your life over the long term?
  5. Discuss what did you learned overall from the program.
