Thurston County is rich in resources for local and organic foods. Purchasing local foods helps support healthy community and the local economy. Here are a few places to get started:

The Olympia Food Co-op is a great place to find fresh organic produce, natural whole foods, local products and meet your neighbors. There is a store on the eastside and westside of Olympia. First time shoppers and members shop at low shelf prices, and members can volunteer for a further discount. In the words of the co-op:

"...The Coop is more than just a place to buy healthy food; we are a community resource that promotes and practices nutritional awareness, local farming and production, environmental responsibility, social and economic justice, collective management and consensus decision-making. "

The Olympia Farmers Market is open from April to December on the waterfront in Downtown Olympia. Vendors include over 200 local farmers, artisans, nurseries, and bakers. There is a performance stage with a variety of music as well as an ethnically diverse food court.

Thurston County Direct Sales Farm Map connects consumers directly with local farmers. There is a list of seasonal products avaliable, farm locations, and CSA's. You can also get a paper copy at the Olympia Food Co-op, the Farmers Market, and other local businesses!

Students from the Evergreen State College Organic Farm sell fresh produce on Red Square beginning in mid-April. The stand is open every Tuesday and Thursday from about 11 to 5.
