Framing Film

Film Journal

The purpose of this film journal is to help you focus your viewing and to help your prepare for seminar discussions.

In a separate, dedicated, notebook, keep your viewing notes, and formal, typed responses to the two program films each week.

Be sure that each entry contains:

title
director
year the film was released
main characters and the actors who play them (check www.imdb.com for film details you may have missed)

You need not re-tell the plot of the film; assume that the reader has seen it.

Focus on a character or technical aspect or ideological code of the film, and organize your entry around that main idea.

Bring your Film Journal to seminar each week.

The journal is due to your seminar faculty Friday, April 15 [the end of week 3], and again on June 3, as a part of your portfolio.
