Saddam Hussein's Moustache

A follow up on the doctoring of the photograph of Saddam Hussein, which I mentioned in class a couple of weeks ago:  According to the media watch group FAIR, The New Republic altered a cover photo of Hussein on 9/30/90, in the run up to the first Gulf War, which made it look more "Hiterlerian".  FAIR reports that an editor at NR said it was a joke; FAIR considers it subliminal propaganda.  I figure there's no reason it can't be both.
