The natural world is my passion, my muse. My intense love and understanding of nature is the overriding inspiration throughout my entire documentary process, helping me to see and feel my subjects in a way that few others are able. Through my writing and photography, I share this passion with the world, hoping that perhaps my work will affect how a person perceives the conservation efforts related to those species I study.

Dave retired from law enforcement after advancing through the ranks - starting as a part-time officer and eventually becoming the chief of his small town department. He's been a rescue diver, a firefighter, fire/arson investigator and an Emergency Medical Technician. He hung up his badge and gun belt in September of 2000 and is currently in the process of completing his BAS at The Evergreen State College. He plans to continue his education and training to become a wildlife biologist, specializing in the carnivores and mammals of North America.

His writing focuses on the wildlife that he photographs and observes, all in order to document their behavior. His photography has won national awards and has been the inspiration for several writers.

Dave spent his teen years growing up in Northwest Montana and currently lives in Western Washington, moving here just after Mount St. Helens erupted in May of 1980, but his heart and soul are always in Yellowstone.

Now he's a Writer, Photographer, Dreamer...
