Where is (was) the body in the feminist video art pieces?

So, sure, some of the video work you saw Friday may have seemed a bit cryptic to you. But I hope that Collen Dixon and Bridget Irish helped you understand the context for the work. The work you saw is important to know about, as it transformed the face of video art entirely when it appeared.

As you write your responses, ask yourself: where is the body in each of these videos? What is the attitude towards towards the body? Whose body/ies are depicted? Is the body of the person who made the work present in the piece? What do we make of this? Why make work in which you (and perhaps only you) appear but that is not, entirely, autobiographical (in the conventional sense)?

And what kind of body does Wonder Woman (and then this particular Wonder Woman) have?
