Week 8 Updates and Help Sessions

1) As we announced in class Tuesday morning, for next week we would like you to write a short description of your spring project that we can use in the Mediaworks screening program. This should be a pithy, 2-3 sentences (25-50 words) that serves as a teaser, sets a context or could jog viewers' memories after they've seen it. We'll discuss these in affinity groups and help each other edit and refine them.

The program for the screening will include the title, director and principals, total running time (trt) and the description. We will need all of that information by the beginning of critique week (week 10).

2)
Beatriz asked those of you in her affinity groups to write up a description of the things you've learned in the course of producing your projects this quarter as she is beginning to write evals.

3)
Tuesday morning in class we will talk about distribution, the festival circuit, and Ruth will screen her current work in progress "On Our Way"Audio and After Effects Help Sessions

4) Several people have requested additional workshops in audio and in After Effects. We have scheduled a soundtrack work session with Peter Randlette for Thursday afternoon, May 22nd from 1:30-4:30 in the MML. That's week 8, when most of you have rough cuts due, so you should be ready to pay attention to your sound. Those of you who want help should bring your audio-in-progress, or put it in your Nimrod folder, to play it and work on it during this session. If you want to participate in this workshop, please email Ruth, indicating you want help with audio.

We have scheduled an After Effects work session for the same time, Thursday, May 22nd, from 1:30-4:30, also in the MML. Jed Smith will work with me to answer your questions and trouble shoot. I'm assuming there are just a handful of you who need this help, so we will locate ourselves at one of the Mac clusters in the MML. Your project and source files should be accessible through Nimrod or your fire wire drive. If you want to participate in this workshop, please email Ruth, indicating you want help with After Effects.

Jed will also be on staff in the MML on Friday to help with AE questions.
