Winter Assignments, Week Six

Monday: Quiz on two books and lectures from weeks 4 & 5. Bring all 3 texts. Read Mindworks through page 124.

Wednesday: Bring two copies of your 700 to 800 word essay on your beliefs to Lecture Hall 3 at 11 a.m. Meet with your writing group and get written feedback from at least two of your classmates. List the Word Count at top. Your essay should discuss your beliefs that you have discovered through our academic work during the first 16 weeks of this program. The exercises in Mindworks should help you identify some of your implicit (hidden) beliefs. You might consider your beliefs about the nature of reality, self (and self worth), your health, your family, friends, or God. This is not expository writing, so it’s fine to use “I” frequently. Don’t discuss beliefs that you don’t want others to read.

Finish Mindworks. The ideas and exercises in Mindworks will help you write your paper.

Thursday at 11 am: Turn in your edited 600-word essay on your beliefs. Do not exceed 600 words. Staple both drafts to the essay with the final draft on top. Your final draft should be single-spaced. It will easily fit on one page with reasonable margins. (There are about 770 words on this sheet.) Please use font size 12 or 13. This sentence is size 12 on the handout (but probably not size 12 if you downloaded this from our website.)

NOTE: If you haven't already done this, get copies of your 3 sources for the final project and read them several times. Get additional sources if you need them.
