At this week’s Page Meets Stage performance at The Bowery Poetry Club, David Lehman and Michael Cirelli read their poetry. David Lehman, who was once Michael Cirelli’s college professor was very comedic in his readings and joked a lot with Cirelli and with the audience. David Lehman read from a book of his in which all poems were in a manner of something. A manner of a romantic novel for example gave the ultimate clichés in what happens in those types of books. His poetry was a kind of quirky-funny possibly made that way by both the way he read and his own personality. Michael Cirelli seemed happy and honored to be sitting alongside his professor from just a few years ago. Both of their readings had humorous aspects, which added to their performance and made it more enjoyable for the audience.
