Assignments:
Bring a deck of playing cards to the workshop. We will participate in two exercises today: "What's in a Name?" and "the Five Tricks Card Game".

Monday October 6 -
Reading:
Chapters I - VI, Tzu, Sun, The Art of War, translated by Samuel B. Griffith, pp. 167-204. In: McNeilly, Mark. (1996) Sun Tzu and the Art of Business. Oxford University Press.

Assignment:
Write a one-page proposal on how to adapt the Five Tricks card game for a forty-person session, taking at least 60 minutes including introduction, multiple rounds of game play, and debriefing. The goal is how to make the game more interesting, educational, fun, involving, or whatever else you think should be added (or dropped) from the experience.

Alternatively, write your one-page paper on the Sun Tzu readings you made so far.
Due date for the first workshop paper will be Friday, October 10. Submit online, please (hardcopies accepted this week only, if you prefer). We will vote on the best proposal at a later date.
