Coastal Community Action Program (CCAP)

Coastal Community Action Program has been a community advocate since 1965, working to meet the needs of families, the elderly, children and youth, and people with disabilities in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. CCAP provided essential services to support dislocated timber workers and fishermen in the Harbor during the 1970s and 1980s. Today, CCAP is collaborating with other Harbor agencies to reduce welfare caseloads; feed the hungry; house the homeless; reduce drug and alcohol abuse; assist in retraining the unemployed; and help seniors to stay in their homes longer by providing assistance and meaningful community involvement opportunities. Coastal Community Action Program believes in changing people's lives, emboding the spirit of hope, improving communities, and making America a better place to live.

Donation from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Coastal Community Action Program received a $150,000 donation from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for construction of 4 one and a half MW wind turbines on twenty nine private acres of land in the hills close to County Line Road of Grayland.

The energy produced from the turbines in the Wind Energy Project will be sold to Gray’s Harbor PUD; the profits that are earned from the sale will be used for funding a number of social service programs of CCAP.

It is believed that this project will produce around thirteen and a half million Kwh of clean and efficient energy every year and also earn around $500,000 every year. The lifespan of these turbines is supposed to be close to twenty five years.[2][3]
