  • 3/9/10  Taiyo is having an Algebra help session 2p-4p on the Wednesday of Week 10 (3/10/10) in Sem2 D3107!  Tell your friends.
  • 2/26/10 There are two optional lectures in Week 9: an Algebra lecture  2p-4p on Wednesday (3/3/10) in D2109, and a Combinatorics lecture on Friday (3/5/10) 10a-12p in D2105.
  • 2/15/10 At long last, here are some midterm solutions: Real Analysis, Algebra, and Combinatorics.
  • 2/7/10 Spring Quarter Info: This week we decided that next quarter’s subjects will be Galois Theory, Probability, Complex Analysis, and Mathematical Fiction (seminar).  Here are the books we’ll be using:
    • Galois Theory: no book – I’ll hand out course notes.
    • Complex Analysis: this Complex Analysis Packet.
    • Probability: the 7th edition of Sheldon Ross’s A First Course in Probability - note that that’s not the current edition (and is therefore a little cheaper), so you won’t be able to buy it in the TESC bookstore.
    • Mathematical Fiction: Abbott’s Flatland; Burger’s Sphereland; Stoppard’s Arcadia; Auburn’s Proof; Jonke’s Geometric Regional Novel; Lightman’s Einstein’s Dreams; Frucht’s Imaginary Numbers.  Feel free to use any editions of these texts that you can find.
  • 1/24/10 Brian’s office hour on 1/25/10 will be 4-5 instead of 3-4.  Also, Brian’s having an extra office hour 6p-7p on Wednesday (no, that’s not two typos; no earlier time that day works) in honor of Thursday’s Real Analysis midterm.
  • 1/7/10 You can find this week’s Seminar Problems on the Seminar Page.
  • 1/5/10 Taiyo’s help sessions will be Tuesdays 3p-5p in Sem2 C3109.  Annie will be in the QuaSR Center Wednesdays 12-3 and Fridays 12-5.
