Week 6, February 8-12

Student Choice Week and Conferences:

Tuesday: 2/9 from 10AM-12PM on Tuesday 2/9 at our regular Longhouse room. Peter will combine his economic workshop topics for S&H Ch.47-48.

Tuesday: 2/9 from 1-3PM in our regular room, Sem 2, E1105, Larry will show the 72 minute movie “War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning Us to Death” and discuss any left over imperialism material.

Tuesday: 2/9 from 3:15-5PM we will have our regular seminars in our regular rooms to discuss the material, especially Khalidi Ch. 5-6 and class handouts.  We will not schedule individual conferences on that day during that time.

Wednesday: 2/10 from 10-1PM: NO CLASS (as per original schedule)

Individual Faculty-Student Conferences in faculty offices.

Friday: 2/12 from 10AM-12PM: Faculty-Student Conferences in faculty offices

Friday: 2/12 from 12:30PM – 5PM (probably end sooner) ROOMS FOR THE PRESENTATIONS ARE THE SAME INDIVIDUAL FRIDAY SEMINAR ROOMS  FOR PETER, LARRY AND SAVVINA.

Student presentations of individual books.  Plan for 7-10 minutes presentation per student and 5 minute discussion.

Thursday, February 18th, there will be a very worthwhile and relevant talk by Neve Gordon on Palestine-Israel from 12:30 to 2:30 P.M. in Lecture Hall 1.

Tuesday,  February 2nd from 12:10 to 1:15 in Sem 2, E1105, there will be a guest lecture to our program from University of Texas Journalism Professor,  Robert Jensen.

For our trip to Seattle, Monday , January 18th, we will meet with Bob McChesney, from 3-5 P.M. at UW,  Communication Building, Room 126.

Our entire class is going on a field trip to the Econvergence conference. We are leaving Friday, October 2nd at 9 A.M. and will return, Sunday evening in vans.  The conference is free except for the Noam Chomsky talk Friday night, and Derrick Jensen night. We have bought tickets for the Noam Chomsky event and set up a program fee of $40 to cover the Chomsky tickets and the transportation back and forth.
