Nick Taylor’s Personal Project Proposal

In Desperation “an experiment in dramatic directing.”

In Desperation is the name of by novel that I have been working on the past 4 years. It’s a long story that is growing but a short part of it involves two cousins who rob and luxury hotel and then punished.  It always been my intent to one day get the story on screen. Thus for this project I will take the opening scene from the novel adapting, directing and it television. I feel that directing this project will give me a nice chance to work beyond comedy and musicals which I commonly find myself some what stuck in.

Step by Step Plan

Step 1. Find a willing cast for the project and pick appropriate scenes. ( I would also like to find a co-director to work with me since I would like to act in the project and it would  help me with art and set design as I have little experience in either.)

(THIS IS ALMOST DONE!)

Step. 2 Rewrite the chosen scene for Television (DONE!)

Step.3 Come up with art/design plan (Meet with scene shop and costume if needed.)

Step.4 Work with cast on lines and characters and identify exact crew needs (This will vary depending on upon the scene or scenes chosen. Some would be field work and would require a small crew of 1 or 2 people some would be better shoot in the studio and would require a larger crew.)

Step.5 Double check everything, answer any last minute questions, post a schedule and crew list.

Step 6. Shoot (and set up if needed for studio)

Step. 7 Use final cut in multimedia lab for edits (This may or may not be needed again depending on the scenes and how will the acting is performed.)
