These are sites I started collecting before I knew what my category was going to be. They don't necessarily fit into my category, but whatever.

Vorbis.com Download free add-on to allow .ogg file playback in proprietary default media players, etc. Ogg files are free and commonly found on Wikipedia[1]. Now you can save and watch and listen to them from your computer! Woo!

epubBooks.com A collection of e-books that are out of copyright and therefore free, and books that you can buy because they are still in copyright. Everything is in ePub format and can go on many common electronic readers, and there is an add-on that lets you read them in your browser.

Firefox browser download site, is easily compatible with the ePub browser add-on! Also robust. I like to have Chrome as a back up for those times when Firefox is touchy (which unfortunately happens).

Openoffice.org Heeeeeyyyy! Don't have a schmillion dollars to shell out for Microsoft Word etc.? Me neither. Welcome to your friend, openoffice.org. Computers in the campus computer center already have this on them, I think. You can save files in Microsoft-compatible formats as well. Has spreadsheets, word processor, "PowerPoint" type thingy, everything!

Ubuntu Want to jump into an entirely free operating system? It's good to have tech-knowledgable back up to help you download this, but it can be done. Based on the Linux kernel. There are different versions too, such as Xubuntu (for a lighter OS).
