Timothy Bartley is a student of The Evergreen State college, Grays Harbor College campus.

Valerie Boisen has lived in the Harbor since 2004. She graduated from Grays Harbor College in 2009 and is currently attending The Evergreen State College. She graduates from Evergreen with her bachelor of arts degree in June 2012. Her love for photography is what inspired her to submit her work for this anthology. Some day she hopes to open and run her own photography studio.

Angela Bove is working toward her bachelor of arts degree and plans on going on to get a master’s in public administration as well at The Evergreen State College. She works at Catholic Community Services of Grays Harbor as a program specialist, is married and has a six-year-old son.

Marcus Briscoe is a Grays Harbor resident and community member since summer 2001. He works in the healthcare field and is attending Evergreen to continue his education in community building and support. Marcus plans to pursue a Master’s degree in healthcare administration.

Francisco Caballero is a student of The Evergreen State college, Grays Harbor College campus.

Don Carlson resides in Willapa Valley. He has served in both the United States Marine Corps and the Washington Army National Guard for a total of 18 years.

Denise M. Carpenter, 56, graduates June 15, 2012 with her Bachelor of Arts degree. She will return to The Evergreen State College in September to start the Master‘s degree in public administration. She is the mother of two and grandmother of 14.

Kimberly Fretheim is a student of The Evergreen State college, Grays Harbor College campus.

Laura Hersh was born in Massapequa, Long Island New York in 1979, and lived there until 2004. She then continued her life and love of nature as a traveling naturalist and outdoor educator with organizations such as Nassau BOCES Outdoor Education, Ferry Beach Ecology School, SIU Touch of Nature, Land For Learning Institute, The Cache River Wetlands AmeriCorps volunteer, Katmai National Park Junior Ranger Ambassador, Nature Vision, Terra Forma Education, the Schooner Adventuress, and the Wilderness Awareness School. Currently she is taking a break from teaching to completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at The Evergreen State College.

Whitnie Kramer is a life-long resident of Grays Harbor and is working on her Bachelor of Arts degree while raising her two sons, Kyle and Corey. She is passionate about helping her community and plans to use her education here on the Harbor.

Jennifer Kramzer was born and raised in the Harbor. She has two beautiful children, and is passionate about helping others. Spring 2012 is her last quarter at Evergreen before graduating with her Bachelors degree.

Bob Kyllonen’s return to college underscores his career transition to
professional social worker. While working as case manager aid for a
Grays Harbor senior services center, he looks forward to graduating in June
of 2012. Bob maintains a loving 30-year marriage to the same woman and he
is excited to know his first great grandson, who will arrive soon.

Christen Lee is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at The Evergreen State College to further her career with the Olympic Area Agency on Aging. She was influenced by caring for her 95-year-old grandmother at the end of her life. Christen volunteers with the Relay for Life in honor of family members lost to cancer.

Jessica Lovelady is an Evergreen student who is passionate about diversity. She was raised by her grandparents in the backwoods of Alabama. Having grown up in the South and moving to Washington state at the age of 20, she understands how important it is to recognize a person‘s different cultural characteristics.

Gail Morehouse has lived on the Harbor since 2001. Her passion for socio-economic justice sustains her educational journey. She plans to return to upstate New York to help the needy and realize her dream as a writer. Gail has four sons ranging in age from 13 to 36, and one beautiful granddaughter.

Loran Nann is a student of The Evergreen State College, Grays Harbor College campus.

Siobhan Peterson lives in Aberdeen with her husband, Bryan, after transplanting here from New York City in 2004. She is a junior at Evergreen and has been working on her Bachelor of Arts degree for nearly 10 years – the end is now in sight! And where it will lead…

David Quinton grew up in the Northwest where he now resides with his
pregnant wife and child. He has a desire to improve the lives of those around
him everywhere he goes. This desire has led to many years of volunteer work with youth organizations.

Barbara Remmem will graduate from The Evergreen State College in June 2012, and will pursue her Master‘s of social work on-line from the
University of Southern California in fall 2012. Her goal is to give back to the community of Grays Harbor for the wonderful memories she has from being raised here.

Barbie Smith continues to greet life with a daily smile. As a life-long resident of Grays Harbor and the community of Central Park, Barbie spreads her passion for humanity as she works with students at her internship with the Equity and Diversity Resource Center at Grays Harbor College.

Michelle Sorensen is a lifelong resident of Grays Harbor. She is earning her Bachelor of Arts degree at The Evergreen State College. She looks forward to making a difference in her community.

Kamie Watkins is a 28-year-old junior attending The Evergreen State College to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree. She ultimately wants to work with at-risk youth, helping them turn their lives around.
