Bare, a queer storytelling event/Open Mic, coupled with “Poly Cocktails” a social event for people interested or engaged in the Polyamorous lifestyle, made for a colorful and entertaining night.
Each month, Bare brings together storytellers, comedians, sex educators and others from the communities to share true tales from their own experiences of sex, desire and romance. The stories are as diverse in tone and plot as the people telling them. This event breaks down walls and allows us intimate looks into the lives of the people around us, giving us a genuine look into bedrooms, back seats and dungeons. The stories spanned from crude to sweet, sad to hilarious and awkward to enlightening, and the audience had a playful and open minded energy that was infectious. This blend of activism, art and empowerment perfectly exemplified what I love about LGBTQ and Poly communities, and was an educational and pleasant experience all around.
