Lynda Barry was born in 1956 in Seattle where she lived throughout her child. Now she lives outside of Chicago. She first started drawing at The Evergreen State College which she started attending in 1977.
She now draws a syndicated comic strip called "Ernie pook's Comeek," and she has published a number (12 as of 1999) of illustrated novels.
