Living systems will be studied on the molecular, cellular, and organismal level. Topics that will be covered include, but are not limited to, the scientific method, biomolecules, cell structure and function, Mendelian genetics, evolutionary biology, introduction to ecology, and plant and animal physiology. The lab component will reinforce concepts and ideas explored in lectures, readings, and workshops. This biology course is excellent preparation for students interested in taking more advanced life science courses or for future work in the areas of environmental science.
