Artist, anatomist, architect, and engineer, Leonardo da Vinci is considered the embodiment of the Renaissance Man. Though best known as a painter, the bulk of his work was devoted to imagining and engineering complex machines made of wood and metal. Students in this course and the complimentary course Marvelous Machines (Metal): Building Leonardo’s Inventions will engage in the study and construction of one or more of those marvelous machines. In this course focusing on wood, students can expect to learn basic processes of design and fabrication in wood.
