- Description

This course is intended for students interested in careers involving
interpersonal relationships including counseling, teaching, social
work, and psychology. Studies in basic developmental theory will
supplement class work focused on developing skills in intentional
interviewing and how these skills connect to family systems concepts.
Students will explore how their own history reflects and shapes their
work with others, as a foundation for further learning, academic
training, and experience. Students must use their own audio tape and
playback equipment or equipment available through media loan to
transcribe and analyze in-class interviews and role plays as they
develop skills in understanding the role of the observer in gathering
clinical, personal, and ethnographic information. Self and faculty
evaluations are required.
