This course will explore the interdisciplinary use of quantitative reasoning and statistics to analyze social and environmental issues and problems. Course content will focus on increasing students' understanding of quantitative research design, specifically the methods and procedures for data analysis. Within this context, students will demonstrate the ability to correctly calculate and interpret descriptive and inferential statistics. This includes learning how to select and apply appropriate statistical tests. The statistical procedures introduced in this course include Chi-square, correlation, and regression analysis. Student work will consist of in-class workshops as well as take-home and computer exercises.
