Labor Relations and the Public Sector

Description
The objective of this course is to give public sector supervisors and administrators the knowledge and tools they will need to successfully interact with labor organizations and avoid creating legal liability for their respective organizations.. Topics covered are;
 
The legal basis for unions
How unions operate
The collective bargaining process
Strategies for negotiation and bargaining
How labor conflicts are adjudicated and settled
Contract administration
How to work with labor organizations for effective management
Employee rights under public labor law
Mandatory subjects of bargaining and how to bargain with labor organizations on these subjects.
 
The course will contain several interactive assignments to provide students with the experience of solving labor problems and cases
