Summer 2016 quarter (Session I)
Taught by
This 2 credit course explores contemporary practices, challenges, and opportunities at the intersection of information technology, public administration and democratic governance. Information technology is increasingly "how organizations get things done" but using IT effectively has special challenges in the public sector. The course seeks to ground discussions in current IT theories and explore evidence of their application through readings and presentations from practitioners in public sector IT. We will explore ways in which data and information technologies have become a key driver in the delivery of services and in some cases have become the service itself.
