Current Events

We knew that this program was going to be an intensive program, culminating in the week at the film festival and then the student presentations week 10.

Please note that we will be leaving for the festival at the end of week eight: our passes are valid beginning May 23rd through the 29th. You can plan to return to Olympia on the 30th (or stay on in Seattle if you want to) and we will resume the program on Tuesday of Week 10.

As far as housing is concerned for the festival week, we still have several people who need housing. If you have housing for yourself but there is a possibility that you could make room for one more person where you are, that would help tremendously. Please let someone on the committee know asap.

The planning committee is Bryan O'Keefe, Alanna Levy, Sheila Sands, Sarah Freni-Rothschid, Phil Rosewater, Andre Helmstetter, Bruce Mason. Did I leave anyone out? They are doing wonderful coordination work. Stay in touch with them and thank them for their efforts. This complex and important work in the program could not happen without them, or, rather, I would have a nervous breakdown without them.

(I am contacting a couple of former students who have tentatively offered places to stay. I will let you know. If any of you know former greeners who live in Seattle and might be willing to put someone up, please contact them now.)

Film Screenings

From Sean Weakland:

Another item you can post on the web page is that I have a 16mm projector and my roommate has a laser-disc player, so if anyone wants to organize screenings during the after hours of when the MPC/Lecture Halls are available, they are more than welcome to contact me---e-mail or phone (705-1916)

Next Friday, May 3rd from 10-noon in the Longhouse there will be a documentary film workshop with two filmakers Kate Kirtz and Nell Lundy. The made the film Jane: An Abortion Project. Their film is showing at the Capitol on Thursday May 3rd at 8pm. The workshop will be on filmaking, feminism, activism, and grantwriting. They will address any questions or leanings of the people present. Hope you can come!
