Be respectful of the class starting time if you are late enter with a minimal disruption
Share experiences in connection with readings relevant to the class occasional digressions are O.K. speak from the text and support with personal experiences
Keep up with the reading before seminar for the benefit of the group; be prepared; have the quotes or passages tagged ahead of the discussion
Express opinions, without personal attacks
(don't be afraid of stepping on toes, there are no stupid comments or questions)
Try not to take varying opinions personally
Discuss issues without creating a situation of triangulation
Therapy and class are not to be confused with each other
Take ownership of what you say and feel with I statements
.....I feel that .... What I thought I heard was.....
Be an active listener; give your undivided attention
When a decision is necessary, aim for a consensus
Respect each individualšs opinion and their right to have that opinion
No cross talk or side conversations
Pause between speaking
Work to keep a balance of communication; try new roles i.e. talkers talk less non talkers talk more
Make a valiant attempt not to interrupt each other
Have as much fun as possible
