Observations

Throughout the quarter we have been observing the Moon in relation to time and the relative position from Earth.  We viewed the Moon on several occasions from Saf's house. We attempted to view the various formation and craters that where listed on the Moon Map.   We had a hard time being able to see distinguishing areas that are on the Moon, from the Moon Map because we had to use our binoculars.

On 3/31/98 the moon was a crescent moon near the constellation of Virgo.

On 4/3/98 the moon was a half moon in the constellation of Gemini.

On 4/7/98 the moon was a bright waxing moon near the constellation of Leo.

On 4/11/98 the moon was full and near the constellation of Virgo.

The moon seemed to move higher and to the north during this time period.

On 4/31/98 at 9:00pm we sketched the moon and its position in the sky. It was low in the sky and over the west horizon.
The moon was a crescent.

On 5/1/98 at 9:00pm we sketched the moon and its position in the sky. It was higher and moved a little to the south.
The moon was a quarter moon.

On 5/3/98 at 9: 02pm we sketched the moon and its position in the sky. It was still higher and moved a little more to the south.
The moon was a half moon.

On 5/5/98 at 9:10pm we sketched the moon and its position in the sky. It was still higher and moved really high in the sky and was real bright. The direction was directly over the south. The moon was in gibbous phase.
