Purpose of System:

To build computer tools that helps molecular biologists map the human genome (among other things).

Brief Description of System Functionality:

Molecular biologists need better tools to put together the puzzle of the genome(s), to find genes that cause certain diseases, to find drugs that prevent or fight those diseases.
Lots of possibilities here -- programs that search sequences, interfaces to those programs, browsers for results of searches, etc.

Hardware and Software Platform:

Mostly unix. some PC or Mac.
