This is a yearlong course focused on human anatomy, physiology, pathology, genetics and nutrition and the interplay among them all. Students will explore the human body through lecture, laboratory, seminar and workshops. Laboratory sessions will support classroom material and will acquaint students with the use of various types of clinical and laboratory equipment.
Fall quarter begins the exploration of the human body with a foundation of cells and tissues. Students will also study the integumantary, musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

a) To familiarize students with structure
and function of the major systems of the human body
b) To explore the human body's interrelationship
of health and disease
c) To introduce basic laboratory procedures
which monitor physiological function
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
At the end of fall quarter students
will have gained an understanding of:
cell structure and function
muscle function and the similarities and
differences between muscle types
bone structure, function and formation
nervous system division, components,
function including the special senses and their function
