As part of our Environmental Analysis program, we have been collecting rainwater throughout the 2000-2001 academic year. Collection devices were set up around campus and the general vicinity. Some of these were placed under trees, some out in the open. Our chemical analyses of the rain water should allow us to compare throughfall of Douglas Firs (Psuedotsuga menziesii), Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata), and Red Alder (Alnus Rubra). We will also be able to compare these samples to rain water collected in the open.
The rain samples were collected, their volume measured, and then analyzed in the lab.
