Patterns Winter 2003 AfterEffects Assignment

Due in class, Tuesday, week 6 (2/11)

With your partner, create a 30 second animation to your soundtrack. The piece must have the following elements:

Remember you have a library of photographic images to draw on from the La Push trip. You may also use time-lapse or stop-motion clips produced there.

When animating to sound keep the following in mind:

Every sound does not have to have a visual equivalent in sync with it.

Sound can imply off-screen events.

Images and sounds can be in tight or loose sync depending on the effect you want (to express distance or movement as in the Doppler effect, for example).

Create the animation in AfterEffects. You can either produce it in DV NTSC format (720 x 480, rectangular pixels) and present it as a video (bring a vhs tape to class) or produce it as a medium size movie (320 x 240) and render it as Quicktime and burn it onto a CD.
