All students are expected to complete a final project which explores one or more of the main program themes, such as motion, growth, pattern formation, perception, order/disorder, cycles and rhythms.

• A project proposal (details below)
• A visual and/or auditory work which should include both creative and quantitative elements. You are expected to make use of some (but not all) of the technological applications you have been introduced to in the program – such as computer programs, the lunchbox, media equipment etc.
• A five page research paper which explores the theoretical and historical background of your project topic. If your project is collaborative your papers must be on different aspects of the project.
• A half-hour presentation of your research and your work.
• A project self-assessment

• A two page description of your project idea. This should include a discussion of the concepts or questions on which it is based, how they relate to program themes and a description of your approach. You should also answer these questions. What do you want to learn from your project? Will you be working alone or in collaboration? In what form will you present your work? If it is time based (eg a film or sound composition) how long will it be?
• An annotated bibliography including at least six source that will initially inform your work. The sources should include at least three texts that were not assigned to the program. A web site is not a text. Annotated means that you have reviewed the works and written two or three sentences about how each relates to your project.
• A one to two paragraph description of the resources you will need to develop the project. What skills will you use that we have already covered and what additional ones will you need to learn? What campus equipment or facilities will you need? Think carefully about this as we will try to schedule skills workshops in response to specific needs
• A project schedule including a weekly timeline of activities, mentioning specifically how you will be using Wednesday mornings of weeks 6, 8 and 9.
• An assignment of tasks if the project is collaborative.

During week 5 you will meet with your seminar leader to discuss your proposal and make revisions before you start your project.
