Present 711 State Ave. NE, Olympia, WA 98506

Community Youth Services is a comprehensive, multi-purpose youth service
agency dedicated to working with high-risk children and youth. The executive
director’s responsibilities include planning, organizing and assembling
resources to ensure that new and on-going programs receive sufficient support.
I frequently testify before legislative committees and work on state and
national public policy issues. CYS, the region’s largest child welfare
agency, is COA (Counsel on Accreditation for Children and Family Services)
accredited, and employs 100 staff and 140 volunteers with a $4.5 million
budget.
Major Accomplishments:
-
Expanded the agency from a small non-profit to one that is the largest
child welfare agency in southwest Washington.
-
Oversaw the agency becoming nationally accredited by the Council on
Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
-
Successfully coordinated a $2.5 million capital campaign to purchase
and renovate a new building.
-
Developed new collaborative approaches to service delivery.
-
Established an endowment for the agency.
-
Established new major programs in the areas of youth employment, youth
shelter services, foster and group care.
-
Received the 1991 Job Training Partnership Act Presidential Award for
Outstanding Training Program (one of only 10 in the nation).
-
Helped raise the level of awareness of children, youth and family issues
in the community through public speaking and the media.
-
Have overseen the delivery of services to over 30,000 children, youth
and families.
-
Created through legislation, Washington State Children’s Day.
