Organizer
Position
Description
Our Healthy
Schools Campaign seeks a creative, organized intern to expand our statewide
work to reduce pesticide use in schools and other programs. Washington state currently has a number
of schools that have passed policies eliminating the use of the most hazardous
pesticides, use pesticides only as a last resort, and ensure that pesticide use
is tracked and the public notified of pesticide applications in advance. Eastern Washington is lacking in
schools with such programs.
The schools organizer would
work to develop relationships with schools, parent activists, and other
organizations in eastern Washington.
This is a non-paid position.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Farm
to College Organizer
Position
Description
The Farm to
College project was launched by Spokane Tilth and Washington State Department
of Agriculture Small Farms and Direct Marketing division to connect college
food services with local farmers to bring fresh, locally-grown produce onto
campus. Washington Toxics
Coalition seeks an intern who will expand our statewide work to reduce
pesticides with the promotion of alternatives such as locally grown organic
food in eastern Washington’s six colleges and universities. The Farm to College organizer would
build relationships with students, faculty, groups, and individuals at eastern
Washington’s colleges to explore possibilities of developing farm to
college projects. This is a
non-paid position. Strong written
and oral communication skills required.
Intern must have the ability to work independently. Must reside in eastern Washington for
duration of internship.
