What is a Food System? Sustainability?

Foodshed?

6pm-7pm:Introductions, handouts and article.

7:30-8pm: In class written response on “A sustainable food system is one in which…”

8pm-9pm:—Seminar on article “Community Food Systems: Visions of a Different Food System” from foodcircles.org.

 

 

9-amNoon: Meet at organic farm outside farmhouse

     Assign first meal prep and plan group.

Noon-1pm: Intro for 8 credit students/16-credits students do farm work;

1-2pm: Student Exercise—What is your background re: food/farming? How do you fit into food system?

2pm-4pm: Organic Farm tour

4:30—6pm. Overview Intro-Lecture on Food Systems, hand out article*

6-9pm Meal provided by faculty and 16-credit students—please bring a bit of your own to share.

 In-class, written response to article and connections to your background & experiences in food and farming.

Seminar—sharing perceptions re: lecture, article and personal background.
