Foot Organics operates an organic market
garden of about two acres, producing a variety of certified organic seasonal
vegetables for sale in local markets.
Our mission is to promote the self-sufficiency, inclusion and
independence of people with developmental disabilities in Thurston County by
providing meaningful employment, training and related opportunities in the
production and marketing of high quality, fresh, organic food.
Left Foot Organics has three internship positions available this season:
· Commercial Organic Vegetable Production—work on the farm and at market, participating in farm planning, field work, nutrient management, composting, harvesting and packing, wholesale and CSA delivery and farmers market.
· Horticultural Therapy—participate in assessment, goal setting, and evaluation of “grower trainees” on the farm and at market, and providing one-on-one support to help ensure their success on the job.
· Non-Profit Administration—work with the Executive Director and the Board on establishing and strengthening the fundamental governing and support structure of a young non-profit organization serving individuals with developmental disabilities.
Farm
Location: Case Road and 113th, about 10 miles south of Olympia (12 miles from TESC)
Hours: 10-30 hours per week, depending on the position
Stipend: Small stipend or produce share
Positions are available beginning Spring quarter and through the growing season to December.
