Spring quarter - Seminar Reading Assignments in Astronomy
and Cosmology Required: RL = Red Limit;
B=Bubbles, Voids, and Bumps in Time; EU
= Elegant Universe
(Recommended): HH = Hawley and Holcomb, Foundations of Modern Cosmology ; K = Krupp, Echoes of Ancient Skies; FP = Stars of the First People, by Dorcas Miller; SA = Scientific American special issue on modern cosmology, U = Universe, by Kaufmann and Freedman (our primary text in the Astronomy and Cosmology program), A = Audubon Society Guide to the Night Sky (including classic myths about celestial objects). Some of these texts are on closed reserve in the Library. Use these resources especially when you are presenting, facilitating, or hungry for more knowledge. They tend to be more reliable than web pages.
