Relaxation of Smooth Muscle requires energy
Levels of calcium drop and calcium is removed from calmodulin – which inactivates myosin kinase
Myosin Phosphatase is released and removes phosphate from myosin
If phosphate is removed while myosin is attached to actin, then the recovery stroke is slow. If phosphate is removed when myosin is not attached to actin, then recovery stroke is quick.
Types of Smooth Muscle: Multiunit smooth muscle
Visceral or unitary smooth muscle
